One of the myths that parents are concerned about when I first raised the issue of medication for a child with ADHD is that it's going to turn their children into a zombie. What I say to that is that we don't know what the correct medicine or the correct dose is. And what the medication should be able to do is to be able to let them have more control over what they choose to do. It's not to sedate them, it's not a tranquilizer.
